KEY ESG announces the launch of its EDCI API integration to streamline EDCI data submissions

Published: 16 Feb 2023 · Last updated: 15 Oct 2023

KEY ESG is delighted to announce the launch of its new API integration with the ESG Data Convergence Initiative (EDCI). With this new feature, KEY ESG becomes one of the first ESG platforms to enable private equity firms to submit their data to the EDCI in one click via an in-bound API. This new addition to the KEY ESG platform is another step towards its mission to streamline ESG data submission processes for both GPs and their portfolio companies.

The EDCI is the first-ever private equity industry-led initiative striving to develop a baseline for ESG reporting through a standardised set of ESG metrics. Launched in 2021 by Carlyle, CalPERS, and a group of leading GPs and LPs, the initiative now brings together 260+ GPs and LPs, contributing data from close to 2,000 underlying portfolio companies for the EDCI benchmark, and driving convergence on ESG metrics across the industry.

With the KEY ESG EDCI API, EDCI members save time and resources by reporting their EDCI data more effectively. Available to all GPs using KEY ESG software to collect, measure and manage ESG data across portfolios, the feature allows them to directly submit their EDCI data in one click and to access relevant benchmarks to drive improvements where it matters.

The KEY ESG EDCI API includes:

  • 100% coverage of EDCI metrics
  • Automated calculations in line with EDCI-approved methodologies
  • Carbon footprint capabilities and education
  • One-click reporting to EDCI through our API integration
  • Downloadable reports in PDF and CSV
  • Peer benchmarks on all EDCI data
  • Onboarding support with our customer success team and in-app guided data entry

GPs participating in the initiative by April 30th 2023 will receive access to a unique private market benchmark of 2,000+ companies held by GPs across the globe. Reporting EDCI data with KEY ESG will help teams do this faster!

Heleen van Poecke, CEO and co-founder at KEY ESG said: “It's incredibly important that less time is spent reporting, and more time is freed up to analyse and benchmark performance to be able to take effective action to improve ESG outcomes. That's why we are super excited about this excellent private market initiative towards standardisation of ESG metrics and are happy to support its development through our EDCI API integration.”
